Lori is the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for Cascade Asset Management Company, the investment office for Bill Gates and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust. At Cascade Lori is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s human capital strategy, including talent attraction, culture and engagement, total rewards and incentives, diversity and inclusion, and learning and development. Lori also oversees Workplace Services and Security, creating a supportive and collaborative work environment. Prior to joining Cascade, Lori was the CHRO and Partner for The Carlyle Group, one of the most prominent and successful global private equity investment firms. Lori also was a member of the Firm’s Management Committee. During her twenty-year career with The Carlyle Group, Lori was responsible for leadership development and succession planning, including working closely with the founders and board of directors on the firm’s CEO transition. She led the firm’s rewards and incentives programs, including the development of complex and innovative long-term incentive programs when the firm went public in 2012. Lori was also the CHRO for Octagon Worldwide Inc, the world’s largest sports and entertainment agency and led human resources for Delphi International, a non-profit international training firm that designed and led socioeconomic development programs for the U.S. Agency of International Development (USAID).

Lori has extensive corporate real estate and workplace services experience and led this effort at The Carlyle Group, Octagon Worldwide, and Delphi International. At Carlyle she led this area for five years during which she implemented best practices and restructured the procurement, design, and construction strategy which resulted in enhanced quality and more efficient/decreased operating and capital expense spend. Lori is actively involved with several human resources organizations and roundtables and as a seasoned global Human Resources Executive who has built and scaled multiple human resources strategies and teams from the ground up, is a frequent speaker, panelist, and university guest lecturer requested to share her experiences and transformative strategies. Lori is on St. Cloud State University President’s International Advisory Council, Surprise HR’s Advisory Board, a governing body member for the Seattle, WA CHRO Executive Summit (former governing body co-chair for the Washington, DC CHRO Executive Summit) and has been active with several non-profit organizations where she has held various board positions. Lori enjoys the theatre and arts, is an avid reader, and has a passion for traveling the world to enjoy new experiences and cultures. Lori and her husband, Mehdi, reside in Seattle, Washington. Lori has a master's degree in Human Resources Strategy and Management from Marymount University and a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Concentration in Human Resources Management from St. Cloud State University.
